Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).

  2. Prepare the Ham: If the ham is in a vacuum-sealed package, remove the packaging. If it has a thick layer of skin or fat, score it in a diamond pattern to help the glaze penetrate. Place the ham in a roasting pan.

  3. Create the Glaze: In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, maple syrup, and apple cider vinegar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Allow the glaze to simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

  4. Glaze the Ham: Brush a generous layer of the glaze over the entire surface of the ham. If desired, press whole cloves into the ham for added flavor.

  5. Bake the Ham: Place the ham in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes per pound, or according to the package instructions. Baste the ham with the glaze every 30 minutes to keep it moist and flavorful.

  6. Garnish (Optional): In the last 30 minutes of baking, you can decorate the ham by adding pineapple rings and securing them with toothpicks. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple ring.

  7. Check the Temperature: Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the ham. It should reach 140°F (60°C).

  8. Rest and Serve: Once the ham is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for about 15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  9. Carve and Enjoy: Carve the ham into slices and serve with the remaining glaze on the side. Enjoy your delicious Christmas ham!
