Sweet and sour ribs are a tantalizing dish that combines succulent pork ribs with a delectable sauce. To create this culinary delight, tender pork ribs are first marinated in a blend of sweet and tangy flavors, often featuring ingredients like sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and soy sauce. The result is a harmonious balance of contrasting tastes, where the sweetness complements the sharpness of the vinegar. Once marinated, the ribs are typically deep-fried until crispy and then smothered in the luscious sauce. The end result is a dish that harmoniously melds the richness of meat with the zesty excitement of a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients

Directions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Season the pork ribs with salt and pepper. Then, lightly coat each rib with flour. This will help create a crispy texture when frying.
- In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the ribs until they are browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the ribs and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
- In a separate saucepan, combine the ketchup, white sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- In a small bowl, make a slurry by mixing the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water. Add the slurry to the sauce and stir well to thicken it. Simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
- Add the bell pepper to the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.
- Place the fried ribs in a baking dish. Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the ribs.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the ribs are tender.
- Remove the foil, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to let the ribs get a bit crispy and the sauce to caramelize.
- Serve your amazing sweet and sour ribs garnished with chives with steamed white rice or your choice of side dishes.
