Bacon Fried Rice Recipe


Bacon fried rice is a delicious and savory dish that combines the smoky, salty flavor of bacon with tender grains of rice, along with a medley of vegetables and seasonings.

Directions

Prepare the Rice:

The best fried rice is made with cold, leftover rice. If you don't have leftover rice, cook some rice and allow it to cool completely before using.

Cook the Bacon:

In a large skillet or wok, cook the chopped bacon over medium-high heat until it's crispy and browned. Remove the cooked bacon from the pan and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess grease. Leave about 1-2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.

Sauté Vegetables:

In the same pan with the bacon grease, add the minced garlic and chopped onion. Cook over medium heat until the onions become translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Frozen Peas and Carrots:

Add the frozen peas and carrots mix to the pan. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until they are heated through.

Push Vegetables to the Side:

Push the cooked vegetables to one side of the pan, creating a space on the other side.

Scramble Eggs:

Pour the beaten eggs into the empty side of the pan. Quickly scramble them with a spatula until they are mostly cooked but still slightly runny.

Combine Ingredients:

Mix the cooked eggs with the sautéed vegetables.

Add Rice:

Add the cold, cooked rice to the pan and stir it into the vegetable and egg mixture.

Season with Sauces:

Drizzle soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil over the rice. Stir everything together until well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Be cautious with salt, as soy sauce is already salty.

Add Crispy Bacon:

Finally, add the crispy bacon back into the pan and stir it into the fried rice.

Garnish and Serve:

Garnish the bacon fried rice with chopped green onions or cilantro, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
