This salad is named after Caesar Cardini, an Italian-American restaurateur who is said to have created the dish in Tijuana, Mexico, in the 1920s.
To make a classic Caesar salad, start by washing and drying the romaine lettuce, then tear it into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large bowl. Next, add the croutons and Parmesan cheese to the bowl.
Serve the Caesar salad immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper, if desired.

- Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper and olive oil, and place them in a baking dish.
- Bake the chicken breasts for 25-30 minutes, or until cooked through.
- Slice the chicken into thin strips after allowing it to cool for a few minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese and croutons.
- Add the chicken strips to the bowl.
- Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad and toss everything together until the salad is evenly coated with dressing.
