Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a large pot, boil the sliced potatoes in salted water until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  4. In a medium saucepan, the butter needs to be melted over medium heat.
  5. Stir in the flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until well combined.
  6. Pour the milk in gradually while continuing to whisk until smooth.
  7. Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Whisk constantly until the sauce thickens.
  8. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  9. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish.
  10. The potatoes should be covered with half of the cheese sauce.
  11. Use the remaining cheese sauce and potatoes in the same manner.
  12. Top with the remaining shredded cheddar cheese.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
  14. After removing the dish from the oven, let it cool before serving.
