Chouriço Rice Recipe


chouriço rice, also known as arroz de chouriço, is a traditional dish made with rice and chouriço, a type of smoked sausage commonly used in cuisine.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups of white rice1 chouriço sausage, sliced into rounds1/2 onion, diced2 cloves of garlic, minced2 cups of chicken broth1/2 green bell pepper, chopped1/2 red bell pepper, chopped1/2 cup of diced tomatoes1/4 cup of chopped parsley1/4 teaspoon of paprikaSalt and pepper to tasteOlive oil

Directions

  1. Put the rice aside after giving it a cold water rinse.
  2. Over medium heat, warm up some olive oil in a large pot. Sliced chouriço sausage should be added and fried until browned. Sausage should be taken out of the saucepan and put aside.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, red and green bell peppers to the pot and sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Add the rice to the pot and stir to combine with the onion, garlic and peppers. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, paprika, salt, and salt and pepper (to taste) to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  6. A tight-fitting lid should be placed on the pot after lowering the heat after bringing the mixture to a boil.
  7. Until the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is soft, simmer the rice for 18 to 20 minutes.
  8. After turning off the heat, let the pot rest for five to ten minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped parsley and the browned chouriço sausage.
