Ingredients
3 1/4 cups white flour1 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 cup shortening or butter1 cup granulated sugar1 egg2 teaspoons vanilla1/2 teaspoon nutmeg1/2 cup buttermilk
Get ingredients 
Directions
- Mix dry ingredients together.
- In a separate bowl, mix shortening or butter with sugar, egg, vanilla and nutmeg.
- Slowly add the buttermilk, dry ingredients and mix well.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured board, cut out large circles of dough with a glass.
- Bake at 425F for 12 minutes.
- Remove and immediately sprinkle with white granulated sugar.
